The Mango Method
(and why it works)
Mango Computer Tuition has been providing computer training in the
Redlands area of Brisbane since 2002. Repeat customers make up the majority
of our business.
Larry Walker, our founder and head instructor, has a
unique advantage over most computer instructors. Involved with computers
since 1980; his formal IT education did not take place until he was in his
40s. This gives him a perspective of learning "computing as a second
language" . He knows what it is to be a middle age person in a
classroom filed with 19 year old geeks*.
* (The term geeks is
used endearingly. Meaning someone that really knows their computing)
Over
The Years We have developed a learning
method that works.
We
speak plain English.
When
we explain a procedure, you will understand it.
It
is not your job to struggle to understand.
It
is our job to make understanding easy
If
you were an IT expert and knew all the jargon you would not have called
us.
We
explain things using language that you will understand.
Where
necessary we will explain “geek talk” in a way that you will
understand
We
take your learning seriously.
We
understand that you are paying money for our service and we strive to
ensure that you get value for your money.
It
is our desire that once you learn how to do something you will be able
to do it tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, and as long as you
are computing
We
realize that if you do something once a month you might not remember the
exact steps. To help we have developed our “Mango Tip Sheets”
Mango
“Tip Sheets” solve this problem.
A
“Tip Sheet” is a step by step guide that allows you to see results.
A
“ Tip Sheet” is customized to work your way.
It
is rare when one size fits all.
If
needed we will customize the “Tip Sheet” to fit your situation.

The above Tip Sheet is in Adobe
PDF format. You will need Adobe Acrobat to view it.
We
understand that you may have not been born to computers. Teaching a 12 year
old is easy. They have been exposed to computers from an early age. They
have come to accept the computer world. When they hear the word mouse the
image that pops to mind is a pointing/clicking device that plugs into the
computer; not a fuzzy little rodent.
Those
aged 30 and over have a different view of the world. They know what a
cassette tape is, but may wonder about an MP3. We understand this and use
our understanding to make learning fun and easy.
You
may feel that learning is impossible
but we know that this is a false assumption. If you can read and understand
this paragraph you can learn to perform any task your computer is capable
of.
We
Take Our
Mission
Statement To Heart
At
Mango Computer Tuition we feel that a computer can open the horizons for
many. A
computer can enhance life, and make things easier. We will strive to make
computing accessible to all.
We believe in "doing it simply,
but doing it well"
